Today, the New Wells Fargo Center will flip the switch on its newest upgrades and final stage of its multi-year $400 million, completely-privately-funded transformation, which includes several exterior upgrades and advancements.

Fans will be greeted by the new upgrades in their entirety ahead of tonight’s WWE Monday Night RAW. Among the renovations are the addition of three massive LED digital boards on the building’s exterior and customizable strut lighting.

“These exterior upgrades feature the latest modern technology to bring new, exciting elements to Philly’s home for sports and entertainment,” said Phil Laws, President of Wells Fargo Center. “After transforming nearly every inch of the arena, inside and out, this is another way to ensure we provide a first-class experience for our guests the moment they step into the Sports Complex.”

The three LED digital boards are located at the northeast and northwest corners of the arena and the south façade. All three boards, which are designed by ANC, will be just under 35 feet in height, and the total square footage of added digital screening will be over 10,500 square feet. Over 1,000 individual lighting units were used to assemble the screens. Content can be customized and curated for each event at the venue and will help promote the diverse lineup of upcoming shows and events.

In addition to the added LED screen real estate, the arena added customizable strut lighting by Jones Sign on all four corners of the building. Totaling nearly 45,000 square feet of strut lighting, the system will have the capability of being lit a solid color (e.g. Flyers orange, 76ers blue) or play video loops (e.g. American flag waving) where each single ribbon of the large section of strut lighting will be used to make up the video sequence. The existing LED uplighting system that currently lights the eyebrow of the arena roof has also been completely replaced and will be coordinated with the strut lighting.

This phase of exterior upgrades marks the end of the arena’s multi-year transformation project that reimagined every inch of the venue. The project produced full upgrades and overhauls to the fan experience, technology, food and beverage, seating options, sightlines, performer amenities and locker rooms, and sustainability.

“We are extremely proud of all the work that has gone into this transformation which has reinforced Wells Fargo Center as a world-class arena,” said Laws. “But the work is never done. We’ll continue to make impactful investments at the arena and will always have an ongoing commitment to elevate the guest experience every single day.”
